Up the Creek is a long-running annual festival (est. 1990) on the banks of the Breede River about 23km outside Swellendam, and it ran again 5-8 February 2026 as a four-day, four-stage event. 2026 tickets sold out, with phased pricing around R1595-R2095 versus the listed R1000, so cost and dates need refreshing. Stored coordinates are too far north; corrected to the festival site near Swellendam.
For many people, one of the highlights of summer – music on the river banks as you float around with friends in the sun. Beautiful campsite (hot showers!), great food stalls and a stocked bar. Up the Creek is a festival for friends, if you’re new to the festival scene, this is definitely a great place to start.
