Xtreme Outdoor Karting

Good to know: Booking essential — it's a mostly-weekend book-and-drive operation. Outdoor dirt track, so expect dust: closed shoes required, helmets provided. Adult karts need ~1.5m height; kids' track from ~9 years / 1.3m. Details may have changed — please confirm before you go.

Set out on the farmlands where the R304 meets the N7 near Philadelphia, Xtreme Outdoor Karting trades the polished concrete of indoor circuits for dust, dirt and wide-open Cape sky. It bills itself as the only outdoor karting operator in Cape Town to run both a dedicated adult track and a separate kids' track, so the whole family can race rather than just spectate. The main track is built to get your pulse going, with enough speed and sliding to keep experienced drivers grinning lap after lap.

Races are sold by the session. On the main karts you can grab roughly 8 minutes (about 20 laps) from around R240, 12 minutes (about 30 laps) for about R300, or 16 minutes (about 40 laps) for about R360. The kiddies' karts are open to children from about 9 years or 1.3m tall, while the main karts need roughly 1.5m in height. Helmets and hairnets are provided and closed shoes are a must. For groups there are 60-, 90- and 120-minute packages across multiple karts — a natural fit for birthdays, bachelor parties, reunions, corporate team days or just a competitive afternoon with friends.

It runs as a book-and-drive operation, mainly on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays roughly 10am-4pm), with Thursday and Friday slots on request. Booking ahead is essential and a deposit secures longer sessions. With braai facilities on site and vineyards and farmland all around, it's easy to turn a quick race into a full day out — confirm current pricing and your slot directly with the venue before heading north out of the city.
