Spur Summer Trail Series, Run #2 at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Trail running through Kirstenbosch Gardens is everything you would expect, beautiful indigenous plants and stunning views as the mountain changes colour with the disappearing sun. The part you tend to forget is that you are basically at the foot of a mountain, and the only way to add distance is to go up and down, and up and down again, and then when you finally think you have climbed your last quaint, mossy, wooden step, the trail takes you up one more time. But the disbelief is shared with laughter and a wonderful sense of achievement (especially at the start of a year) as you enter the final stretch towards the lights in the distance.
